Worldwide, it is well known that Xiaomi is the King of budget smartphones. The tech company makes smartphones with value and sell them at a budget price. In that order, the Redmi Note 10 Pro with 108MP camera will cost you N116,500 (~$285) for the 6GB of RAM + 64GB storage model. And the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at N126,500 ($305). Lastly, that of 8GB of RAM + 128GB storage is priced N135,500 (~$330).

Now, the Tecno Phantom X is the most expensive here. While it is only available in 8GB of RAM + 256GB storage, but the price is outrageous. It will cost you N228,000 (~$550).

Display & Design

The screen of the Tecno Phantom X is curved edge while the Redmi Note 10 Pro has a flat screen.

Tecno Phantom X looks premium with its corning gorilla glass 5 protection. It has 6.7″ AMOLED curved edge display with FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate enabled.

While the Redmi Note 10 Pro has similar AMOLED screen size and FHD+ resolution. But with a higher refresh rate of 120Hz.

So both smartphones have the same screen quality, however it now depends on you to decide whether to buy the Phantom X with curved edge or the Redmi Note 10 Pro with flat display.

Camera

When it comes to camera, the Redmi Note 10 Pro has quad rear camera setup. 108 MP primary camera + 8 MP ultrawide lens + 2 MP depth senor and 5 MP macro. The front camera is 16MP.

While the Tecno Phantom X has triple rear camera setup. 50 MP primary camera + 8 MP ultrawide lens + 13 MP telephoto lens. The selfie camera are 48 + 8 MP dual selfies lens.

Overall, when it comes to selfies, the Tecno Phantom X is better. And the rear camera of the Phantom X is also more versatile and productive. Moreover, it has a laser autofocus which helps in daylight or lowlight photography. However, on the part of the Redmi Note 10 Pro, 108 MP sensor doesn’t tell the whole story.

Both devices can record video in 4k resolution and their night mode is great as well.

It has two big cores that clocks (2.3 GHz), and six smaller cores that clocks (1.8 GHz) and an Adreno 618 GPU.

While the Tecno Phantom X is powered by MediaTek helio G95 chipset paired with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The helio G95 chip is built on 12 nm process. It has two Cortex-A76 cores (2.05 GHz), six A55 (2.0 GHz) and a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU.

Overall, when it comes to performance, the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s Snapdragon 732G chipset is the better performer here. It wins on Geekbench both in single and multi cores scores.

Software

Both smartphones run Android 11 out of the box. However, only the Redmi Note 10 Pro would get upgraded to Android 12 and beyond. As for the Phantom X, no words from Tecno yet concerning any software updates.

Tecno Phantom X vs Redmi Note 10 Pro: Conclusion

The Tecno Phantom X is more expensive and it lacks on some important features. For such high amount, one would have expected to see a Snapdragon chipset and not helio G95. Secondly, if Tecno won’t give major software upgrade, then the Phantom X is not worth buying for $550 (N228,000).

The Redmi Note 10 Pro has better performing chipset, better battery life and certain of a year or two major software upgrade. It happens to be cheaper even with all the pros.
