Display: 90Hz vs 60Hz
The Google Pixel 7a and iPhone 14 have the same 6.1-inch OLED display. But, the display of the Pixel 7a supports a 90Hz refresh rate while that of the iPhone 14 supports 60Hz. In a nutshell, the display of the Pixel 7a is smoother and more responsive than that of the iPhone 14. You might not notice this in normal day-to-day use but you’ll notice it when playing graphics-intensive games with high frame rates.
Another area where the displays of both phones are different is the design. The Pixel 7a has a punch-hole display which looks more pretty than the big notch display of the iPhone 14. Both phones have relatively thick bezels and are durable devices.
Both smartphones are made of aluminum frames and are certified to be water and dustproof. The Pixel 7a and iPhone 14 survived our bend test and thus are durable smartphones.

Chipset: Performance and Gaming
The Apple iPhone 14 has a better performance than the Google Pixel 7a and this is because of the chipset inside. The iPhone 14 features the Apple A15 Bionic chipset which has faster CPU cores and is paired with a more powerful GPU than the Google Tensor G2 chipset in the Pixel 7a.
The chipsets in both phones are 5G enabled, but the iPhone 14 is better than the Pixel 7a when it comes to playing games, processing data, and rendering graphics. The performance of the Pixel 7a is very good but not as good as what you’ll get in the iPhone 14.

Camera: Photography and Videography
The camera sensors on both smartphones are different. The Pixel 7a has a 64MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 13MP front camera while the iPhone 14 has a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP front camera. The use case for the cameras of both phones is different.
From my time using the cameras of both phones, the Pixel 7a takes better photos while the iPhone 14 record better videos. The iPhone 14 also has more stability features and more film-making features. So, if you’re a vlogger, I’ll recommend you buy the iPhone 14 ahead of the Pixel 7a due to its video quality.
Although the Pixel 7a can record decent videos, its depth of field is not as good as that of the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 can blur the background more and keep the object in focus more. However, for taking normal photos, I prefer shots from Pixel 7a.

Battery and Charging
The battery inside the iPhone 14 is a 3,279mAh cell which is smaller than the 4,385mAh cell inside the Pixel 7a. Both smartphones support wired and wireless charging and will conveniently give you more than 8 hours of screen time.
On normal use, I always end up with about 20% of the battery left on both phones. The battery inside both phones can take you for a long time and both phones provide easy ways to charge the device.

Software and other features
The Google Pixel 7a boots Android 13 out of the box while the iPhone 14 boots Apple iOS 16 out of the box. The Pixel 7a will get three years of software updates while the iPhone 14 will get four years of software updates.
None of these phones have a microSD card and 3.5mm headphone jack ports. But one feature that is peculiar to the iPhone 14 is the Emergency SOS via satellite (SMS sending/receiving) feature. For security, the iPhone 14 uses FaceID while the Pixel 7a uses a Fingerprint scanner (both are very good and secure).

Pixel 7a vs iPhone 14: Price
The price of the Google Pixel 7a is $499 and it comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage while the price of the iPhone 14 with 6GB + 128GB storage is $799. The price of the iPhone 14 is almost twice the price of the Pixel 7a but does that make it a better phone to buy? See our verdict below.
Google Pixel 7a vs Apple iPhone 14: Verdict
The Google Pixel 7a offers better value for money than the iPhone 14. This is because everything the iPhone 14 can do, the Pixel 7a can do too. The display of the Pixel 7a has a smoother refresh rate, it has a bigger battery, supports wireless charging, it’s dust and waterproof, offers more RAM, decent performance, and good cameras.
The only obvious reason why you might consider the iPhone 14 over the Pixel 7a is its performance. But if you’re not into high graphics rendering and playing games, that won’t even matter much. So, if you need my recommendation, buy the Pixel 7a instead of the iPhone 14 and save a whopping $300 while also getting the same value you’ll get with the iPhone 14.
